This morning I'm on a plane to Vancouver to do a guest spot on Life Unexpected! I've always been a fan of the show, especially since it's set in Portland, near my hometown. So, here I am, a sore throat and terrible sinus congestion, sitting in the back of a little prop plane. I'm afraid I'm a poor sight to see trampling through the airport in my sunglasses and sweats. But hopefully I'll have some downtime from filming where I can catch up on my sleep.
I haven't spent much time in Vancouver but I hope to find a least one little cozy spot before I leave. Any suggestions?

Just watched the videos from the concert, You were just A-MA-ZING :O!!! Amber and You looked Lovely :)!! You did so good! not only you but all the musicians dancers and chorists.. ReplyDeleteI so wish I could've gone to the concert, but it just didn't happen. I tried planning it, but... The closest I got was eating corn for dinner while the concert was happening.
I've had a sore throat for the last month due to acid reflux, and I don't know if you've tried it, but ginger root tea is seriously amazing for a sore throat. I'm actually boiling water for some at this moment! Boiled water, a few grinds/slices of ginger, wait awhile, strain for the liquid, maybe add some honey, and voila! Also, a poor sight? I don't think so.

ReplyDeleteI live in Vancouver! I hope you and Kate have a really good time here. You should check out Stanley Park and English Bay (they're right near each other) if it's a nice day. Absolutely beautiful and I love going there.
ReplyDeleteAlso, as far as restaurants and such, I would suggest McLean's Restaurant in Gastown. I personally have never been there, but my mom and her boyfriend are absolutely in love with it. It's owned by a former Vancouver Canucks goaltender, Kirk McLean. The staff is apparently extremely friendly and treats everyone as if they're family. Another thing I'm sure you will love, is that it's pretty low key, so you shouldn't be bothered during your meal.

ReplyDeleteOhhh Vancouver BC? I thought you'd meant the one in Washington! Welcome to Canada! I love Vancouver BC. It's pretty much where I want to live. The food there is everywhere and fantastic. There are moooore than plenty of non-chain restaurants (my favourite). It's super easy to find organic foods. My favourite place to find food is on Commercial Drive. It's pretty hippie. I don't know if you're into that. It's so easy to get organic, vegan/vegetarian food there and some places even get all of their deliveries by bicycle only to be environmentally friendly. Of course, everyone in Vancouver seems to ride their bikes. There are other fancy restaurants there too of course. I had some really good Italian in a cozy upstairs restaurant, but I can't remember it's name so... no help sorry!
ReplyDeleteSomeone suggested Gastown. that's a really nice trendy area. I've only eaten at Chill Winston there, and it was really good, interesting food. Plus the bathroom was pretty interesting.
If you want to look at the ocean/English Bay and some pretty hilarious laughing statues, Raincity Grill on Denman is where I had the BEST meal of my BC/WA trip a few months ago. It prides itself on supporting local farmers in BC, AB, WA, & OR. It's a pretty small, busy and well known restaurant though, so I'd make a reservation if you decide to go just in case.
I hope your stay is fantastic.
PS I hear the places called "Cupcakes" or something are not what they're cracked up to be.

I've never been to Vancouver, but my parents have and they said it was beautiful! So you'll definitely have fun!
I'm a veggie, so here are 3 restaurants i'd recommend...
1. Cafe Deux Soleils - Mexican, Thai & Italian.
2. The Naam - With live music but kinda busy :S
3. Annapurna - Indian and all veggie friendly!
BTW you do not look at all ill, you always look great!
Love the beige and snakeskin heels in the suitcase. I also loved the heels you wore at the show (the ones with the jeans, grey top and jacket).

So I was reading one of your previous post about food, womn and God and you know, I started thinking how the all drugs topic fits in this, our eating habits. It makes me wonder why people consume drugs. Sure, some can be considered harmless, like POT... But in my opinion, people who think that and smoke pot and other stuff are dumb and stupid. And it's not just me, I mean, it's been scientifically proven: "Cigarette and drug smokers have lower IQs than non-smokers..." Not to offend anyone, of course. It just makes me think if a few moments of fun are worthy of destroying your body? Because I'm more than sure the "voice of God" doesn't say that...

Hope you had fun filming the LUX crossover, Joy! I don't actually watch that show, but it sounds like it's going to be great so I'm kind of excited to see the episode. I find crossovers pretty cool, especially if it's with a show I've never seen before and probably wouldn't get sucked into otherwise.
