3 Cool Things...

Hey all! I'm back with 3 Cool Things!

AMARETTI
Pronounced "am-ah-REHT-tee", Amaretti is the Italian name for macaroons, which means little bitter things. Crisp and crunchy on the outside and soft inside, these small, domed-shaped cookies originated in Venice Italy during the Renaissance period. Amaretti are made from either ground almonds or almond paste, along with sugar and egg whites and can be flavored with chocolate or liqueurs. I love to display these individually wrapped treats (available at stores like Trader Joe's and Fresh Market) in a glass-domed candy dish in the living room. They stay fresh for months and are a great accompaniment to coffee or tea when guests swing by!

THE HURT LOCKER
I just rented this movie today and was really impressed. Kathryn Bigelow is a director with a remarkable vision. These characters will draw you into their world, a very real world existing right now while we sit comfortably on our couches and watch. Not as much of a story as it is a slice-of-life, we get to see a genuine depiction of what many of our soldiers deal with on a daily basis. An important film to see.

ETSY
I bought this little ring as a gift for my sister-in-law, Andrea. I have the matching little green bird ring. I love Etsy for finding unique things. You'd be amazed at what people out there in the wide world are making; everything from Kindle covers to Shoes, Hats and even Taxidermy!

I LOVE Etsy. I found it on stumble upon a few years ago and I thank my lucky stars every day that I did. It's an amazing site.

I heard The Hurt Locker was a great movie too! It's supposed to get a lot of award nominations this year as well. It's deff on my must see list.

Love all your updates! Always something interesting!

Oh 3 very cool things there!

I am a fan of anything that involves eating, so I am guessing that this would be on my list of 'things to try'.

The film sounds raw and real. I love how some people can take reality and broadcast it to the world.

I quite literally just finished listing some items on my Etsy store. That ring is a beautiful find.
It's the place for anything good and eclectic.

I love your three cool things. I just looked up the movie on IMDB, and it sounds really interesting. I was scared when I first read it was about Iraq, but I read a review that said it was simply about the human cost of war and more of a character study than a political statement. I'll have to give it a shot (oh, that was not meant to be a pun)! Thanks for the recommendation.

Etsy is amazing. I have been trying to look for the perfect locket for my mom, and I started looking for options on this site, and there were so many breathtaking selections.

Dude! I was totally just in Venice, but I guess I didn't pay enough attention to notice the Amaretti. I totally wish I got some now, but eh. I got lotssss of good food there.

I'm so out of the movie loop lately, but I'll look out for The Hurt Locker. Thanks for that rec!

That ring is cute too! You've always got cute accessories and stuff, it seems.

I love these updates. Thanks again! BTW, love the new blog layout. Looks sweet!

Joy ~

Thanks so much for sharing some of your favorite things with us again. The things you choose to share are wonderful and I know open up people's mind to the possibilities that are out there if they just look around.

I've seen the Amaretti cookies on the shelf at Trader Joe's, but have never had the inclination to try them. Now I do. Thanks for the recommendation!

I've been meaning to watch The Hurt Locker, but haven't had the chance to sit down so I can devote myself to the content. Living in a military town (San Diego) and having many friends being deployed overseas and seeing them return as different people has had a profound effect on me and my thoughts regarding what is going on in the world. Thank you for recommending this movie so people who may not have a chance to see the effects first hand can see and know what they did not know and were not able to see before.

Esty is FABULOUS! I've bought a lot of great things from the website. I love that you can find just about anything and the prices are not outrageous.

Once again thanks for sharing with us!

BTW, the new blog layout is awesome!

Joy-

I love Italian food...I will have to try those. I just saw The Hurt Locker a few days ago and thought it was awesome. I know many men and women in the Armed Forces and some are really that crazy...and not in a bad way. They are all awesome and inspiring. They have some cute stuff on that site...a friend of mine makes a lot of clothes and other things by hand and sells them on there.

I am a nanny and have been for a long time...some of your songs have calmed the children when nothing else would...the most recent child hated his car seat and as soon as I put on your music he calmed down and even fell asleep. I am very greatful for you and your music...and so are the parents...I thank you on their behalf and of course my own. Happy babies make happier homes.
